Celebration to mark five years of Newton's Place

Residents in a Devon town are bingo da letra gbeing offered a chance to add an image of their faces to celebratory flags to be displayed in their local museum.

The Newton's Face bunting project will celebrate five years since the opening of Newton's Place, in the former St Leonard's Church in Newton Abbot.

Every Thursday afternoon throughout September, Kate Green, community engagement officer, will run sessions where people can use different materials to recreate an image of their own face.

Museum curatorial assistant Katie Petley-Jones said: "As the local community is central to everything that we do here in Newton's Place, we want your face in our gallery of fabulous local people."

She added: "We will be running lots of different activities to help us celebrate five years of the museum, town council and community space being in the heart of Newton Abbot."

Ms Green said: "We want to celebrate the anniversary and everyone likes bunting.

"We thought, what is most important to the museum and it is the community.

"We have tables full of fantastic materials and once people have created a representation of their face - then it will be printed on to bunting."
